T:BA Digest DAY 7: A Litte Airy in Here

After pooping out from FUTURE CINEMA early, I went to my van for sleep. Why my van? Because I knew that The Imago Theater (the venue of Keith Hennessy), KBOO, and WHS were all in close proximity. I needed to be inside KBOO brewing coffee by 7:30 AM, to be on the air at 8 AM. So if I toughed it out, I could be in a good position in the morning and save some time and fuel. I live in the hills on a farm, it’s a hassle getting in and out of there; I really can not afford to stay at a hotel during T:BA. I’m saving money. But that is my dream, taking a vacation in town and enjoying a hotel to catch everything.

Now, what ensued in that studio was kind of madness and felt somewhat like Turbulence (a dance about the economy). Lisa Loving was the host. She hosted me as a guest in the past, when I was promoting Cathedral Park Jazz Festival. I was comfortable and it was a good show then. But this time, I co-hosted and was expecting to be the guiding force of the program. To be honest, I had no confirmation of that expectation, so it lands on me. What I expected was about thirty minutes of discussion on the topic of arts and economics, the use of WHS, the new PICA offices, then a discussion about arts and economic motivations as it relates to the performer, hearing from artists featured in Turbulence (a dance about the economy). But, what happened was a show entirely guided by Lisa, a totally different direction. You be the judge : )

Thanks to Lisa for opening up the stage time. Thanks to Patrick for helping me land the guests: members of the Keith Hennessy group including Jupiter, Jesse Hewitt, Laura Arrington, and performing arts curator, Erin Boberg Doughton. CLICK HERE FOR THE RADIO PROGRAM.
